Talk:Installing Lazarus on Linux
The main page is a draft of how to install Lazarus on Linux. I hope, over time, it may be possible to replace the quite large number of pages on this topic.
My next step is to transfer over and remove much of the Linux content on the "Installing_Lazarus" page, its far too long and, for many users, includes too much detail.
Comments and contributions very welcome !

2022-11-07 Alextp has added a section about running a 32bit compiler on a 64bit Debian machine. I will ask him to consider if he thinks its really necessary, it seems a pretty strange thing to do. If its intended to be used to make 32bit applications, building a cross compiler is probably easier and far, far easier to manage. Having two separate compiler and Lazarus installs just to build 32bit and 64bit apps is a waste of diskspace and it means you cannot use Lazarus' very handy 'mode' to switch between.
If there is some other reason why someone may want to do this, perhaps that should be explained in the article ?
Other wise, it seems to be there unnecessarily and, perhaps, removed to avoid confusing a new user. But, I would not, of course, remove something an active user has put there recently without first asking him or her.

- David, AFAIR I just copy/pasted some info from the forum (or bugtracker). I also don't recommend to install 32bit FPC on 64bit PC. Alextp (talk) 13:10, 7 November 2022 (CET)
Hmm, then if even you don't think its a good idea to be there, then why is it there ? The actual content seems to have been copied fro the cross compiling page. Maybe all we need here is a better link to the cross compiling page and can remove this distraction ?

2022-11-10 OK Alexy, shall I remove it for you then ? Davo
