Projects using Lazarus

Nice work! Arent (talk) 16:07, 27 July 2020 (CEST)

Thanks!
I note you collapsed the categories into a simple list. The only reason I did not do that was so that the individual categories could be expanded on to list the sub-types and give examples in the future. For example, the hobby software category could be expanded to list the individual hobbies for which we have software. Trev (talk) 02:31, 28 July 2020 (CEST)

Redirects to main pages

Hi, Trev!

Today you have deleted page:
09:41 . . Trev (talk | contribs) deleted page صفحهٔ اصلی ‎(Replaced by Main_Page/fa following correct language style for naming pages)

This page used for redirect from navigation panel to main page when choosen fa Language for wiki interface (First link at top left corner is "Main Page" for "en" and is "صفحهٔ اصلی" for "fa"). The same for other languages. Could you please restore this page?

FTurtle (talk) 17:29, 2 August 2020 (CEST)

G'day! I have restored the page but I do not understand why. I found it because it was listed as an "orphan page" by the Wiki software. It does not use an English page name (which is Wiki policy) and is not the main page I get when selecting "فارسی (fa)" from the main page languages. The "real" main/fa is a mixture of Arabic/English. Should the "فارسی (fa)" page be _moved_ to main/fa? I'm sure I must be missing something :)

  • Thanks for restoring page.
  • It is Farsi (Iranian).
  • Old version of this page may be used for copy some text to Main Page/fa but it should do users who know Farsi
  • I see you deleted such pages for other languages. This breaks current configuration.
  • You can understand current configuration via reading thread at forum:

https://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,41242.0.html

  • I think there are three ways for restoring of working link to main pages from navigation panel:
    • Restore old pages (but then we'll have the trouble discussed at forum)
    • Save text for links but change addresses to "Main Page/??"
    • Save text for links but change all addresses to English "Main Page"
  • Currently I added redirect for that page.

FTurtle (talk) 19:08, 3 August 2020 (CEST)

I now know what I was missing thanks to the images posted in the forum.
I have restored the two pages: Pàgina principal and Página principal‎ that I deleted after they were marked for deletion by someone else.
I have also added a Warning note to all three restored pages - see https://wiki.freepascal.org/index.php?title=صفحهٔ_اصلی&redirect=no for an example - if you know of any more please also add the warning note which will stop them being interfered with in future.
If there are any more pages that need restoring, please let me know. I could not find any more.
I think a REDIRECT should work nicely for these cases (with warning note).

I checked all such pages.
Results:

  • I created absent page Anasayfa with redirect to Main Page/tr
  • Page Strona główna was deleted at June. Please restore it and check redirect to Main Page/pl
  • The old problem with Página principal still exists:

Menu es, pt -> Página principal -> Main Page/pt

FTurtle (talk) 21:56, 29 August 2020 (CEST)

Thanks for that!
I have restored the Strona główna page and added a redirect to Main Page/pl. I also included the note to stop anyone from sending it for deletion again.
As for the old problem... I'm out of ideas.

Pages for deletion

Hi, I’m wondering why you don’t delete index.php. Your latest deletion swipe included all pages in Category: Pages for deletion, but this one. You know, it’s been sitting there for over two years. Kai Burghardt (talk) 17:15, 12 December 2020 (CET)

It resolves to the Main page, so I've been somewhat hesitant about deleting it. Trev (talk) 21:11, 12 December 2020 (CET)

Thanks for your help, but

i still have a question: (How) can I start a new page? I translated Project_Templates, so I should create Project_Templates/de, isn't it? But I can not find a link, where i can create new pages. Don't I have matching rights or do I need new glasses? From Sandbox there was a way to create a new page, don't know, whether it is the only one.

I create new pages by changing the name of an existing page URL to the one I want -OR- adding a page link to a non-existent page in an existing page, then clicking on the link offers to create a new page. Trev (talk) 00:46, 8 October 2021 (CEST)

Problem now: Project_Templates/de exists, but Project_Templates doesnt show it. What to do?

Actually the English page does show the German link in the language bar at the top when I just looked. You may need to purge the page cache to see very recent changes (of any new / changed page). To do this, you add "?action=purge" to the end of the page URL and press Enter. Trev (talk) 00:46, 8 October 2021 (CEST)
[Later] I see that FTurtle added the missing template for the language bar and categories (ie the {{Project Templates}} at the top of your new page). Trev (talk) 05:27, 8 October 2021 (CEST)

Thank you all

Page deletion

Thank you for your answer. Maybe this is weird, but I didn't know how to add the page to the "deleted category". But I think I already know. I need to add [[Category:Pages_for_deletion]] to the page. Please confirm, because I don't see the effect yet.

I have never had problems with this email terrmit@[...].pl, but I changed to another one. --Sławomir Załęcki (talk) 23:06, 14 November 2021 (CET)

OK, I already have confirmation.

Why devart.com is spam?

Hello!

I cannot save the edit, e.g. paragraph https://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Lazarus_Database_Overview/pl#Lazarus_i_MySQL, because I get the message that devart.com is spam (text pl):

Błędy:
Strona, którą próbowałeś zapisać, została zablokowana przez filtr antyspamowy.
Najprawdopodobniej zostało to spowodowane przez link do zewnętrznej strony internetowej.
Filtr antyspamowy zadziałał ponieważ odnalazł tekst: devart.com

When editing the en version, this message is missing. Do you know why this is happening?

To save the file I had to replace the "." with a "(dot)" like devart(dot)com

Am I doing something wrong?

--Sławomir Załęcki (talk) 01:53, 24 November 2021 (CET)

The way that the Wiki Spam Filter works is unknown and very weird. A couple of days ago it complained of a "spam link" in my work which was simply a macOS log entry. It took me ages to find what was preventing me saving the page (it was the datestamp of the log entry) - I used the Wiki sandbox and had to bisect my work rather like bisecting commits to find the issue. So no, you are not doing anything wrong. Trev (talk) 02:35, 24 November 2021 (CET)
It is really weird. Thank you for your answer. --Sławomir Załęcki (talk) 23:16, 25 November 2021 (CET)

macOS versions

I cannot understand do you have ARM64 version of macOS? --Alextp (talk) 20:19, 4 December 2021 (CET)

One of my Mac minis is the base model M1 which runs macOS Monterey. macOS binaries from Big Sur onwards are universal - ie they run on both M1 and Intel processors. Is that what you wanted to know? Trev (talk) 22:51, 4 December 2021 (CET)
Yes, thanks. Alextp (talk) 20:30, 5 December 2021 (CET)

Template for the page title

Hi Trev,
Is there a template for the page title?
If not, is it possible to create such a template?
I would like to be able to make a language version of the page title.
For example printing.png, something like this:

<h1 id = "firstHeading" class = "firstHeading" lang = "en (or de,pl,hu...) ????"> '' '{{#switch: {{# titleparts: {{PAGENAME }} | | -1}}
| de = Drucken
| en = Printing
| hu = Nyomtatás
| pl = Printing
| ru = Печать
| {{PAGENAME}}
}} </h1>

Is it possible? --Sławek (talk) 10:35, 6 February 2022 (CET)

I do not believe it is possible because the page title is stored in the MediaWiki database page table and matches the last component of the URL for the page. More details at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Page_title and https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Template:Languages Trev (talk) 04:31, 7 February 2022 (CET)
I already wanted to use {{DISPLAYTITLE}}, but apparently $wgRestrictDisplayTitle is set to true. This would be the cleanest solution; we do not want to alter the principal page names (as specified in the URL), because it facilitates matching language versions. And, by the way, #titleparts won’t work, because subpages are disabled. This wiki is flat.
‑‑Kai Burghardt (talk) 20:12, 7 February 2022 (CET)
Thank you both for the information. Yes, this is a problem with $wgRestrictDisplayTitle. I don't know yet why setting $wgRestrictDisplayTitle = false causes problems if it doesn't change the link to the page? I thought it should be easy. Too bad it doesn't work. I think translating the titles would make the document easier to read and improve the look. --Sławek (talk) 22:11, 7 February 2022 (CET)
